In reports from Beijing-based Tibetan blogger Tsering Woeser, the Chinese government has just escalated Khenpo Kartse's alleged crimes to "leaking state secrets," one of China's deadliest charges.
The prominent religious leader Karma Tsewang, also known as "Khenpo Kartse" was arrested on December 6, 2013 and has been denied medical treatment and legal support since. Having battled with health issues before the arrest, his medical state has drastically deteriorated; he is reported to be coughing up blood. The Chinese prison that he is being held in is notorious for cruel treatment of its prisoners.
