CELEBRATE THE SNOWLION FLAG OF TIBET ON TIBETAN INDEPENDENCE DAY |
For millions of Tibetans inside Tibet and in exile, and supporters, the Tibetan Snowlion Flag symbolizes freedom, social justice, and human rights. It captures the hope for freedom of our people and stirs a deep passion in our hearts.
Today the Tibetan flag is banned in Tibet under Chinese rule and its possession can lead to arrest. However, the flag has continuously been used in protests by Tibetans in Tibet since 1959 to present day as a powerful symbol of resistance and hope for freedom.
Join us under this banner for Tibetan freedom and let's make sure each of us makes our city a little more beautiful by flying the vibrant flag of Tibet.

For the average Tibetan and supporter, the Tibetan flag is the staple instrument in our protests and presence in our homes. But even amongst the best of us, there are some things about the flag that you might not know. For example, did you know that the His Holiness the 13th Dalai Lama designed the modern-day Tibetan national flag in an independent Tibet? Or, that it existed almost 30 before the Chinese national flag?
The Tibetan national flag was first introduced in 1916, and was designed by the 13th Dalai Lama based on previous Tibetan military flags dating back to the 7th century. It even made its international debut on the National Geographic 'Flags of the World' edition in 1934!
As the Chinese government continuously attempts to rewrite Tibet’s independent history, we can all take simple but powerful actions on February 13th, Tibetan Independence Day, to challenge its lies and reclaim Tibet’s past and strengthen our struggle to once again live in freedom.
Tibet will be free.
