釈放が現実になればすばらしい事です。
サカダワの時期にいい便りが来ますように!!!
Six years ago, he was jailed for filming ordinary Tibetans in Tibet speaking about their thoughts, feelings and desires for freedom, captured in his film "Leaving Fear Behind." As soon as SFT heard the terrible news, we mobilized our students, youth and members around the world to campaign for his release.
Together with you, we organized dozens of protest actions, petition drives, lobby efforts, and many screenings of his film around the world. With your support and our collective pressure over the years, we kept the spotlight on Dhondup Wangchen's case at the highest levels.
Recently, I had the opportunity to meet Golog Jigme Gyatso. Many of you will know him from the petitions and actions you took for his safety and release when he was detained multiple times for assisting Dhondup Wangchen on his film. After an unbelievable escape, he is now free and safe in Dharamsala, India. In his recent press conference, he said of his action, "Somebody had to do it. If we are scared, our story doesn't get told."
Although Golog Jigme and Dhondup Wangchen have been silenced for many years behind bars, their powerful film spoke to many around the world of the suffering of the Tibetan people.
Today as we celebrate Golog Jigme's freedom and the pending release of Dhondup Wangchen, all of us at SFT remember and renew our commitment to Tibet's political prisoners – our Tibetan heroes – who refuse to be silenced by the Chinese government.
Join us in screening "Leaving Fear Behind" one more time in celebration of Dhondup Wangchen's anticipated release, Golog Jigme's freedom, and renewed commitment to amplify the Tibetan people's fight for freedom.
