We at SFT are deeply horrified and outraged by the murder of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Atatiana Jefferson, and countless others. These are not isolated incidents, this is a systemic issue rooted in historical and ongoing oppression. Martin Luther King Jr. famously said: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”. We are asking Tibetans and people of conscience everywhere to stand in solidarity with the Black community until justice is served.
In His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s live virtual teaching on compassion, he addressed the recent murder of George Floyd saying: “We see in the media about discrimination on the basis of color or religion these days, and then there is killing due to that, and then there are some who even take it as a pride to be able to kill somebody.
