Dharamsala: For the past 20 years, intentionally or unintentionally,some kind of cultural genocide is taking place in Tibet, Tibetan spiritualleader the Dalai Lama has said in the India capital New Delhi.

過去20年の間、故意に、または、意図せずに、何らかの文化的な大量虐殺はチベットで起こっていると、チベットの精神的なリーダーダライラマがインド、ニューデリーで言いました。

 

"I have heard that many monasteries in Tibet are becoming morelike museums and monks just caretakers. For the last 20 years, I have beenhearing that intentionally or unintentionally, some kind of cultural genocideis taking place in Tibet," the Dalai Lama told journalist Karan Thapar inan interview, according to a report on the website of Tibet's Government inexile.

「私は、チベットの多くの僧院が　より博物館と　僧たちは　管理人のようになっていると聞いていました。この　20年の間、私は故意に、または、意図せずに、何らかの文化的な大量虐殺がチベットで起こっていると聞いていました」と、亡命中のチベットの政府のウェブサイトによると、ダライラマが ジャーナリストキャランターパルのインタビューにおいて話しました。

 

The Nobel laureate, however, also said: "We need more researchwork to confirm this."

On promotion of Mandarin as a medium of instruction in schools inTibet, the Dalai Lama said some Tibetans told him that some kind of'semi-cultural revolution' is taking place in Tibet and Tibetan language mightwell get wiped out soon.

On being asked what Tibetans were doing to fight the threats posed totheir language and culture, he said: "By asking for genuine autonomy inPeople's Republic of China."
