外交部：ダライ・ラマ14世の訪台「時機でない」

（台北 22日 中央社）国際女性団体「BPWインターナショナル」が来月1日に台北で開くアジア総会にチベット仏教の最高指導者ダライ・ラマ14世（写真）の招待を計画していたが、外交部は22日「国家全体の利益を考慮すると、この時期の来台は適当でない」と入国を認めない方針を明らかにした。
年に幾度も世界各地を訪れ、今月14日までは日本を訪問していたダライ・ラマ14世だが、北京がチベット独立運動の首謀者と見なす人物だけに、台湾側の対応は慎重だ。1997年の初訪台で李登輝総統（当時）と、2001年には陳水扁総統（同）と会談したが、両岸関係を重視する現在の馬英九政権は、2009年の災害慰問での訪台は受け入れたが会談はせず、記者会見もキャンセルされた。
外交部の柯森耀次官は国会の委員会答弁で、ダライ・ラマ14世の訪台自体は歓迎するが、タイミングを考えなければならないと説明、中国大陸の圧力などはなく、台湾自身が個別に判断することだと強調した。
なお、野党民進党は先ごろ、ミャンマーの民主化運動を率いてきたアウン・サン・スーチー氏に訪台を要請、また来年夏には大陸出身の在米人権活動家・陳光誠氏の招待も計画しているが、政府はいずれについても入国可否の判断を示していない。

Around 10:30 a.m., Kushiro Mayor Hiroya Ebina visited the funeral parlor where the bodies are being kept. Ebina said he deeply regretted the accident and hopes the injured survivor will recover soon and that the dead will rest in peace.
Chiefs of the villages near the accident site also visited the funeral parlor shortly after to mourn the deaths of the Taiwanese tourists.
One of the chiefs said the villages will make greater efforts to warn tourists about the dangers of driving in the snow.
A Taiwanese family of four was traveling in the rented car, which collided with a truck in Hokkaido at around 11:15 a.m. on Nov. 23. The car driver Hung Chi-wen was rushed to hospital with concussion and internal bleeding, while the other three people were pronounced dead on the spot.
The three people who died were Hung's wife Lin Yu-ching, his brother Hung Ying-wen, and his mother Chang Lung, who worked in the Ministry of Culture's Legal Affairs Committee.
A Japanese news report said the tourists were probably on their way to Tsurui from Kushiro in eastern Hokkaido when their car crossed the lane into the path of the oncoming truck, as indicated by the skid marks on the snow-covered road.
As of Sunday, Hung was still in an intensive care unit.
His sister went to Hokkaido on Saturday to take care of related affairs. Lin's family, including her parents and a younger sister, arrived in Hokkaido on Sunday afternoon.
